To lead the Government Business unit which forms part of the Wholesale Banking business of NMB Plc. The role entails immense responsibility and regularly interacts with some of the most senior stakeholders within the Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies.
Main Responsibilities:
Lead a team of Relationship Managers in ensuring growth in revenue from the Government portfolio across multiple segments cutting through the network.
Lead the unit’s growth and profitability through effective development of new business, with 50%-75% of time dedicated to effective calling activities on existing and potential customers, identifying business needs and corresponding sales opportunities bank-wide.
Develop long-term Government Business retention plans and identify opportunities to enhance profitability.
Provide specialist advice to Government Accounting Officers and other parties.
Pro-actively work closely with Transactional Banking, Treasury, Retail banking, Zonal Managers and other major areas of the bank to promote the sale and implementation of complex financial products and services as well as transactional solutions.
Assess and advise formal presentations prepared for customers and potential customers.
In collaboration with Transaction Banking, oversee winning responses to Request for Proposal (RFP), develop pricing proposals in conjunction with Request for Proposal (RFP) responses and obtaining approvals prior to delivery.
Oversee the clientele base and focus on developing and maintaining best service and relationships.
Ensure annual relationship reviews are conducted.
In collaboration with Transaction Banking deploy deposit generating solutions to government clients.
In collaboration with Corporate Banking unit develop lending opportunities including business engagements with credit committee and Board credit committee.

Qualifications and Experience
Masters of Business Administration and a relevant University Degree or equivalent post graduate qualification.
Certificate in Banking Operations.
At least 15 years’ experience in the Banking Industry and/or financial institutions; 5 being in a Senior/Leadership role.
