Description
Longido Community Development Organization (LCDO) is a membership, nonprofit organization based in Longido District. The organization works towards the empowerment of the most vulnerable Pastoralist Maasai communities through promoting access to quality education, health awareness, access to safe and clean water, human rights and economic empowerment. LCDO would like to recruit a qualified candidate to fill the positions of Water Engineer. He/she will be working under the leadership/guidance of the Coordinator to implement various WASH programs activities in Longido District.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervises all water construction activities in the project area including construction of dams and repair of surface water intakes and wells
- In collaboration with other stakeholders, undertake detailed needs assessments, analysis and design appropriate project interventions to meet needs and strengthen local capacities
- Supervise and support partners in design, procedures and cost estimations and ensure implementation of water infrastructures
- Provide technical support in designing and installation and technologies and systems
- Ensure proper and continuous monitoring of the progress and completion in accordance with the implementation schedule, regularly visiting sites in order to identify and resolve difficulties
- Participate in project monthly and quarterly monitoring, evaluation and documentation of progress of initiatives and contribute to technical progress reports
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and interim reports on water project activities
- Plan scheduled maintenance on all the installations and equipment related to water supply, sanitation and treatment systems
- Work with other department staff to develop quarterly operational plans and manage activity expenditures
- Assist in the development of training materials in community development and water resource management
- Undertake any other responsibilities, tasks or activities as reasonably required. It is important to note that the responsibilities may change to meet the evolving needs
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil and Water Resources Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years proven experience in the water development sector conducting water supply work using project development tools, innovation and appropriate techniques
- Demonstrated technical ability, sound judgment and ability to work effectively with others at all levels;
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English;
- Strong Technical knowledge for both design and construction of Water and Sanitation Resources
- Good understanding of rural development in water supply alongside principles of sustainable development
